Congratulations to the 2017 Young Leaders Group Membership Scholarship Recipients!

Three scholarships for a one year membership to ULI were provided to deserving applicants by the ULI Washington Young Leader Scholarship Fund.  The three recipients learned more about ULI Washington Young Leader involvement opportunities at the 2017 Young Leaders Summit on Tuesday, May 16th at ULI Headquarters.  During the summit, the scholarship recipients also networked with about 100 other Young Leader attendees.  We hope Samia Bingham, Kimberly Burrowes, and Wilson West enjoy their first year as a member of ULI! Washington, D.C. is featured in a new ULI Stormwater Report.

Two projects in Washington, D.C., Canal Park and The Avenue, are featured in new ULI stormwater report.  The report, titled Harvesting the Value of Water:  Stormwater, Green Infrastructure, and Real Estate, was prepared by ULI’s Urban Resilience Program.  Canal Park is a neighborhood park developed by a public/private partnership and located on the site of a former D.C. waterway, with 95 percent of the park’s irrigation, fountain, toilet-flushing and ice rink water provided through rainwater recycling.  The Avenue is a mixed-use, transit-oriented development in downtown D.C. that features a robust stormwater management system in a … Read More

ULI Washington Young Leaders Get their Hands Dirty with City Blossoms!

On Saturday, April 29th, the ULI Young Leaders held a volunteer event with City Blossoms, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering healthy communities by developing creative, kid-driven green spaces. The weather was great and the turnout was fantastic. About 25 ULI members provided volunteer service at an outdoor vegetable garden located at a local public charter school located in Northeast DC. Volunteer activities included weeding, mulching, planting, painting signs and other general cleanup duties. Advisory: Panel to Develop Marketing Strategy for White Oak Science Gateway Revitalization

On May 16-17, ULI Washington will host its second Technical Assistance Panel (TAP), in conjunction with Montgomery County, as part of its new Regional Fellows Program. The purpose is to examine opportunities to market the White Oak Science Gateway (WOSG) that will both encourage already planned redevelopment projects and promote revitalization in areas not currently slated for redevelopment.
