UrbanPlan 2017 Mid-Year Update

ULI Washington continues its track record of exposing area youth to complex urban planning and development issues through its experiential learning curriculum, UrbanPlan. Since the 2016-2017 school year began, ULI Washington volunteers have contributed to successful UrbanPlan programs at Washington-Lee High School and at Georgetown University. Two additional programs are scheduled this spring at regional high schools: Wakefield High School in Arlington (March) and Bethesda Chevy Chase in Bethesda (May-June). Nearing the Finish Line on another UrbanPlan School Year

It’s hard to believe but it is already March and another UrbanPlan school year is coming to an end. So far, ULI Washington has offered UrbanPlan at two high schools – Washington-Lee High School and Charles E. ULI Washington holds UrbanPlan Training; Produces18 New UrbanPlan Volunteers

On a sunny day in early May, a cohort of 18 members of the Washington District Council convened at ULI’s Georgetown office for an afternoon training on one of  ULI’s signature programs, UrbanPlan. UrbanPlan is a realistic, engaging, and academically challenging classroom-based, Web-supported program in which high school and college students learn the roles, issues, trade-offs, and economics involved in urban development. UrbanPlan Volunteers Gather, Learn and Build an Entire City in 45 minutes

After offering the program around the country since 2003, the national ULI organization spent the last year revising the program in order to clarify the material and strengthen the student experience.
