PANEL SUMMARY

No longer a question, the suburban office renaissance is happening. The DC metro area’s suburban office markets’ pulse beats stronger than ever with recent big leases signed by marquee tenants in Montgomery County and Northern Virginia. New trophy mixed-use office projects are attracting interest from across the region, while older properties are being thoughtfully repositioned to attract tenants. What is driving these suburban success stories? Will suburban quality of life amenities and competitive rents draw more prospective tenants to pick suburban office space over a downtown address? How are developers, brokers, and local governments sealing these deals? What will drive demand over the next decade?

Please join ULI Washington for an exciting panel featuring leaders in real estate who are attracting office tenants to new stand-alone and mixed-use projects in the Maryland and Virginia suburban markets.

Topics for Discussion:

  • What are the key drivers of demand for suburban office space?
  • What strategies and tax incentives are local municipalities using to attract and retain businesses?
  • What’s your pitch to office tenants on the benefits of a suburban office location?
  • As yesterday’s millennials shift into an older demographic, will they show more interest in living and working in the suburbs?
  • How necessary is it for a suburban office space to be located next to public transit? Are there more important locational considerations?
  • What building or neighborhood amenities are critical to landing a tenant?
