SOLD OUT: The Future of Real Estate in Metropolitan Washington: Walkable Urban Places and Real Estate

On September 11, 2012, academics and practitioners will gather at George Washington University to explore Walkable Urban Places and their role in economic development in the D.C. region. The event is cosponsored by the George Washington University Center for Real Estate and Urban Analysis and ULI Washington. At the conference, new research completed this year on Ranking and Economic and Social Equity Performance of Metro DC’s Walkable Urban Places will be presented by Christopher B. Leinberger, Professor, George Washington University & President, LOCUS, Responsible Real Estate Developers and Investors. The research study, titled “Walk this Way” establishes metrics to gauge walkable urban places’ performance that could guide investment decisions and public policy development. 

The conference will, in addition to highlighting the study, also explore the Management and Public Policy elements of walkable urban development, and will include in-depth case studies of three existing and emerging Walkable Urban Places including Clarendon, White Flint and the Capitol Riverfront.
