Innovation Update: Transit-Oriented Development’s Return on Investment

transwestern_chart

Metro has created a new tool that that quantifies the relationship between land use and rail ridership.  It helps estimate ridership and revenue from transit-oriented development projects near Metrorail stations.  WMATA planning staff worked with the University of Maryland’s National Center for Smart Growth to create the tool to help people understand the large changes in ridership in the system and why certain station areas – like Navy Yard and NoMa – were showing ridership gains while the system as a whole is experiencing losses in thelong arc of ridership growth.   To find out more about the tool and download it, click on this  link:  http://planitmetro.com/2015/11/16/transit-oriented-developments-return-on-investment/
