UrbanPlan City councils at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School
Many thanks to the 20 UrbanPlan volunteers who spent over 70 volunteer hours at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School this week judging student..
June 24, 2019
Fourteen local high school students spent the first week of their summer break learning about affordable housing, historic preservation, risk forecasting and other challenges in real estate development through ULI Washington’s first summer UrbanPlan program. The program supplemented the traditional UrbanPlan curriculum with site visits to local development sites, presentations from local real estate professionals, and a service project for Montgomery Housing Partnership.
Many thanks to Evan Weisman, Jad Donohoe, and Leticia Proctor of Donohoe; Justin Chapman of Skanska CDUS; and Thaddeus Bell of Toll Brothers City Living for making UrbanPlan come alive through their presentations to the students. We are grateful as well for volunteers Bianca Cole, John Zehner, Jacqueline Canales, Dan Anderton, Rob Klein, Ralph Boyd and Melanie Graf for serving as facilitators and city council members over the course of the week. And thanks to Charlotte Garvey and Martina Tinong of Montgomery Housing Partnership for the opportunity to stuff backpacks for the MHP Homework Club while learning about affordable housing issues in our area.
Finally, thanks to the B-CC HS Educational Foundation for the generous grant that made the program possible!
