A NOTE FROM THE NEW CHAIR
Hello – I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! My name is Jamie Weinbaum. I am honored to be the new Chair of ULI Washington. Having served this past year as Vice Chair under Yolanda Cole’s leadership, I know that I have big shoes to fill!
In my day job, I am the Executive Vice President of MidCity Development, a family-owned real estate company based in Bethesda, Maryland. I lead the development of mixed-income, mixed-use projects primarily in the Washington metropolitan region. I have served in lead development roles in several area firms and previously practiced law. I hold a JD from the George Washington University School of Law and a BA from Wake Forest University.
During my two-year term as Chair, I look forward to working with you to ensure that ULI Washington remains the most valued and respected real estate organization in our region. I am intent on continuing to fulfill the vision of our Strategic Plan and will focus on the value of the organization to our members as well as the impact that we can have on land use in our region. We have many incredible ways to get involved, and I would love to learn more about you and discuss how ULI Washington can be an even bigger part of your professional development. I am particularly interested in strengthening our Initiative Councils as well as getting more members involved in Urban Plan and our affinity groups (YLG, NEXT, and WLI). I also want to explore ways to increase diversity and inclusion and ensure that we are facilitating connections among our members so that ULI Washington truly works for you.
This upcoming year is particularly exciting – allow me to point out two upcoming events: First and foremost, we are fortunate to be hosting the upcoming ULI Fall Meeting from September 18 – 21, 2019. The Fall Meeting is a once-in-a-decade opportunity for us to demonstrate the incredible evolution of our built environment to an international audience (estimated to be 7,000 attendees). Highlights of the meeting will include a vibrant opening reception at District Pier at the Wharf and a blowout party at La Cosecha, the new Latin market in the Union Market District. If you haven’t registered yet for the Fall Meeting, now’s the time! Be sure you get the chance to network, form relationships, and learn about happenings in other markets.
To celebrate the excitement of the upcoming Fall Meeting, join ULI Washington for a Summer Social on Wednesday, July 24 from 6 – 8pm. We will gather at Tiki TNT, one of the hottest bars at the Wharf. Enjoy specialty cocktails, snacks, and time with fellow members. Tickets are selling fast, so grab one while you can.
We will be sending out more information soon about the upcoming year. Again, I am thrilled to serve in this important role and thank you for this opportunity. I look forward to working together!
Jamie
