Building Bridges Across the River: ULI Mini Technical Assistance Panel

Six members from the latest graduating class of Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Regional Land Use Leadership Institute joined the 11th Street Bridge Park for a Mini Technical Assistance Panel (mTAP) to focus on a specific issue facing a local community or organization as part of their nine-month leadership program. Recap: 17-18 Leadership Institute, Day 6, Placemaking and Design

Day 6 of the Leadership Institute convened at the Bonifant Affordable Senior Living Apartments in downtown Silver Spring.   Before springing into the day’s program on creative placemaking, staff at the Bonifant provided a snapshot of the property’s development and operations which was rounded out by cohort member Stephanie Roodman of the Montgomery Housing Partnership, who related her organization’s relationship and experience with the Bonifant. Recap: 17-18 Leadership Institute Day 4, Trends and Innovation

Day Four of the ULI Leadership Institute took place in the Crystal City sector of Arlington, Virginia. The day’s theme was “Trends + Innovation”, and the very appropriate setting for the day’s session was the Crystal City offices of 1776, a global business incubator that is all about innovation. Recap: Leadership Institute Day 2, Infrastructure and Transportation

Day Two of the ULI Leadership Institute took place in Shady Grove, Maryland.  The day’s theme was Transportation and Infrastructure, and the setting was Montgomery County’s new Equipment Maintenance and Transit Center. The group began with a roleplaying game called “You’ll Pay for This”.  Breakout groups considered a scenario involving a large business relocating to the group’s city.  In order to lure the company, the city government agreed to fund some infrastructure improvements and needs to adjust an already-tight municipal budget and raise some additional revenue.  Each group presented their … Read More
