Please join the ULI Young Leaders’ Real Estate 101 Committee on Monday, November 20 for a discussion with experts in the construction industry. The program will feature a brief, high level overview of construction by Steven Teitelbaum, adjunct professor at American University’s Kogod School of Business. Next, our panel featuring John Begert and Kevin Schaar from MRP Realty and Steve Griffin from Paradigm, will talk through the exciting process of building Dock 79, a two-phase project in the Capitol Riverfront submarket featuring a 305-unit apartment building.
Steve Teitelbaum, teaches real estate development at American University’s M.S in Real Estate program. Mr. Teitelbaum is a Senior Real Estate Advisor for WMATA and co-chairs the DC Building Industry Association’s Construction and Development Committee. A graduate of Columbia University’s School of Law, Mr. Teitelbaum was a Partner at Jones Day until 2011 where he represented developers, institutional owners, foreign investors and entrepreneurs.
John Begert, a Principal at MRP Realty, has over 20 years of experience in the multi-family industry and pursues multi-family residential and mixed-use acquisition and development opportunities for MRP. Mr. Begert has developed high-rise, mid-rise, and urban-wrap rental products as well as mixed-use urban condominium product in Washington, DC.
Kevin Schaar, a Principal at MRP Realty, has over 20 years of experience in development and construction and is responsible for pre-development design and construction for MRP. Kevin has completed over 4,000 multifamily units and over 100,000 square feet of mixed use retail
Steve Griffin, a Project Executive at Paradigm, has been with Paradigm for over 12 years and worked on many multifamily projects in the DC area. Paradigm served as the General Contractor for the Dock 79 development.
