ULI Washington Service Opportunity: Community of Hope Holiday Market
The ULI Young Leaders are looking forward to hosting their fourth annual holiday service opportunity for volunteers of all ages with partner Community of Hope, a beneficiary of this year’s fourth annual ULI Washington Trivia Event. Community of Hope is a non-profit working in providing housing, healthcare, education, and career counseling for low-income and homeless families in the District of Columbia.
ULI Washington volunteers will help with serving snacks and assisting with arts & crafts, gingerbread house building, storytelling, as Santa attendants and other activities at Community of Hope’s annual Holiday Market, with an expected attendance of more than 150 of their clients and local residents.
If you cannot attend, Community of Hope would appreciate donations of new unwrapped toys or books, you can bring donations to the event or drop them off at the ULI office (2001 L Street NW, Suite 200). If you are not bringing these items to the event but would still like to donate, please drop off donation items by noon on Wednesday, December 5th at ULI Headquarters.
There are two volunteer shifts available to choose from:
Shift 1: 11:30 AM-1:30 PM
Shift 2: 1:15-3:30 PM
Please note that all volunteers will receive lunch on behalf of the Community of Hope.
If you are driving, the parking deck which can be accessed from S. Capitol Street. The driveway to the deck is between the blue/white DHS building and a construction site. Use 4049 S. Capitol Street for GPS purposes. Please park in a Community of Hope space. The entrance is at the front of the Conway building.
There is also free street parking nearby.
If you are taking the metro, the closest stop is the Congress Heights Station. A carpool will be available from that station leaving at 11:15 AM. Please let Emily.Weberman@uli.org know if you are in need of a carpool, or if you are driving and willing to assist.
11:30 AM – 12:00 PM – Setup
12:00 – 3:00 PM – Holiday Market Event
3:00 – 3:30 PM – Clean Up
