Marcie Merriman, EY America’s Cultural Insights & Customer Strategy Leader, will share her research into the behaviors, generational values, and cultural shifts we are experiencing as COVID, work-from-home, and the deployment of digital technology reshapes everything from housing to work, to lifestyle choices. These behavioral and cultural shifts will undoubtedly impact the next real estate trends for years to come.

    Justin Chapman

    Senior Executive - Development, Skanska

    Justin is a Senior Development Manager with Skanska Commercial Development US, where he is responsible for the full range of development activities on mixed use projects in the Washington, D.C. region. He holds Masters Degrees in both Real Estate from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Urban Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Since 2008, Justin has engaged in the planning and development of over 1.2 million square feet of built projects across office, sports, retail, and university asset types. Justin has been an adjunct professor at the George Washington University School of Business, where he taught a semester course in sport facility management and development. Justin is an active member of the Urban Land Institute where he was recently appointed to the Washington Council Executive Committee, and sits on the Public Private Partnership National Product Council. Justin currently resides in Potomac Maryland with his wife Randi, and son Brook.

    Marcie Merriman

    Exectutive Director, Ernst & Young LLP

    Marcie Merriman is a successful entrepreneur, former retail executive and creative agency founder and partner. An internationally recognized leader in cultural anthropology and retail strategy, Marcie has spent 25 years working with boards, CEOs and their teams to propel growth through human-centric design. Marcie speaks globally on topics related to millennials, Generation Z, changing behaviors and corporate strategic response, having her work featured on CNBC, BBC and Bloomberg TV, and in publication like The New York Times, Forbes, WWD and Business of Fashion. As a leader in EY’s Digital Strategy Practice, Marcie teams with clients to understand nuances of human behaviors within societies and organizational implications that can be addressed through improved experiences, including the deployment of digital technologies.

    Julie Smith

    Chief Administrative Officier, The Bozzuto Group

    Julie Smith is responsible for the oversight and strategy of Bozzuto’s Marketing, Human Resources, Technology and Research departments. Julie’s expertise in brand building, talent and technology is integral in the company’s ongoing expansion efforts into targeted markets as well as in the alignment of the Bozzuto brand with the evolving expectations of today’s customer. Previously, Julie served as president of Bozzuto Management Company, overseeing a $9 billion portfolio that included more than 50,000 units in more than 200 apartment communities throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and Southern regions. In 2016, Julie was honored as a Distinguished Leader by the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network. In 2015, Julie was named one of Washington’s Women of Influence by the Washington Business Journal as well as one of The Top Ten Most Influential Women in Multifamily by Multifamily Executive Magazine. She was also named the magazine’s 2013 Multifamily Executive of the Year. Julie serves as the chair of the board of Victory Housing and is an Advisory Board Member for the Master in Real Estate Development (MRED) program at The University of Maryland. She serves on the board of The Ruppert Companies and is an Advisor to the Board of ApartmentList. She chairs the Diversity Committee for the National Multifamily Housing Council and is a past Chair of the Women’s Leadership Initiative for ULI Washington, D.C. She currently serves at Chair of Mission Advancement for ULI Washington.
