    Join us for ULI Washington’s first Full Member Executive Conversation of FY21 with Nina Janopaul, President/CEO of the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH). While we must meet virtually for now, we are limiting the event to 25 Full Members to replicate the small group setting that attendees highly value to ensure a lively, engaged and interactive conversation.

    Nina Janopaul has been President/CEO of APAH, a non-profit, regional, award-winning, affordable housing developer, since 2007. APAH has a portfolio of 18 multifamily rental properties with more than 1,800 units valued at more than $450 million, plus another 800 units in the pipeline. Prior to joining APAH, Nina was a principal at Capital Strategies Consulting, providing services to a variety of organizations, including Enterprise Community Partners. Nina received a Bachelor of Arts Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University.

    Nina will open the session with her thoughts on:
    • Balancing the mission of a nonprofit with excellence in real estate execution
    • Addressing NIMBYism and securing entitlements in dense urban areas
    • Managing risk
    • Building accountability with a growing staff
    • Leadership lessons learned
    There will be plenty of time for Q&A with the audience, and we look forward to a dynamic exchange of ideas, information, and experience.
     
    Registration is limited to 25 people and will not be recorded. Given the small group size, all registrants are expected to attend, and we encourage attendees to participate with video.

    Nina Janopaul

    President/CEO, Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing

    Nina Janopaul has been the CEO of APAH since 2007, building the organization from 3 staff to over 25, and from $60MM in assets to over $400MM. APAH is an award winning developer with 1,800 affordable multifamily rental units and another 800 in development. Before joining APAH, Ms. Janopaul was a principal with Capital Strategies Consulting and led development for Hostelling International. She graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelors degree with honors.
