The Sustainability Initiative Council focuses on bringing together land use industry leaders to discuss the broad role of sustainability in the built environment. With a forward-thinking (not too technical in nature) approach, the Council helps build the business case for sustainability through the discussion of policy, capital markets, design, technology and specific case studies and projects.
Discussions and presentations are aimed at building a holistic view of sustainability that addresses all facets of holistic sustainability including human health, energy, water, resiliency and more, with programs that include individual and large-scale projects as well as regional and broad policy issues.
The council also seeks regular program collaboration with the other Initiative Councils and related organizations outside of ULI.
Currently, the council is run by Scott Brideau, Studio Principal, Little, and Brad Dockser, Chief Executive Officer, Green Generation, co-chairs for the initiative council since the council started.
Recent topics have included looking at City Climate Plans with Linda Toth, from Arup, the economic impact of Federal sustainability policies, with Adele Morris, Senior Fellow and Policy Director, Climate and Energy Economics, Brookings Institution.
Our next virtual meeting of the council will focus on sustainable placemaking, working together with the initiative councils at ULI Washington.
