Beginning in 2017, ULI Washington planned to focus on three distinct themes in the following two years – Housing Affordability, Regional Economic Health and Competitiveness, and Disruption Trends and Technologies. In the following years, the district council hosted a number of events and conducted research into these themes, including member-lead opportunities to further grow our resources.
This coming year, ULI Washington is excited to host a new initiative council – Innovation + Technology. Lead by our members, the new initiative council will convene those working in the planning and development space who may already be engaged in some of these techniques and technologies. Targeted focus points include financial tech, construction tech, e-commerce, telecommunication, sustainability, and co-loving amongst many other topics.
During the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, discussions around the technologies and techniques to support both remote working and a return to safe office work environments continues to interest our member base. To kick off the initiative council’s year, the council co-chairs Rohit Anand and Adam Levenson worked to host the virtual event “COVInnovation: Industry Embraces Innovation and Technology” featuring senior leads focusing on real estate development, multifamily, and building technologies relevant to work during social distancing practices.
