Prince George’s County has been working on a Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance rewrite for several years and the process is entering the home stretch. The current code is significantly outdated and overly complex, making the land-development process expensive, time-consuming, and unpredictable. Additionally, the current code is not reflective of the vision for future growth in the county. By updating the zoning ordinance, the County hopes to create an intuitive and modern set of development regulations for the 21st century that supports the county’s vision for quality growth and economic development, and improves the quality of life for Prince George County residents.

MNCPPC staff is currently working with the consultant on a 2nd draft of the zoning and subdivision ordinances. The Comprehensive Review Draft of the Ordinance will be released for public comment in May 2017. Work sessions with the County Council on the 2nd draft will be held in June and July.
