Placemaking Initiative Council Recap
ULI Washington Placemaking Initiative Council met in Rosslyn at The Alcove, an experiential retail space
October 17, 2018
More than 75 attendees packed into the tasting room and distillery of Republic Restoratives in Ivy City on October 3rd to network and celebrate the new programming year for the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) of ULI Washington.
Beverages were provided by Republic Restoratives, the largest crowd-funded, women-owned distillery in the world. This community driven business was founded by Pia and Rachel and we were able to hear their remarkable origin story while sipping craft cocktails made with their signature vodka, bourbon, rye and apple brandy. Appetizers and desserts were provided by Chef Jess, a classically trained chef and registered dietician who specializes in turning science into delicious meals. She’s been featured in Redbook, Elle and Essence magazines, the Food Network and The Today Show.
WLI programming ideas and opportunities to get involved were discussed and a tour of the distillery was offered to attendees. WLI has several events in the planning stages including a panel with a Digital Culture Exploration theme, annual Holiday luncheon, Fitness event for January and an event on career transitions in partnership with CREW. If you’d like to get involved, please visit the ULI Navigator online tool or contact Becca Hertz at [email protected].
