On October 23rd, ULI Washington members went for a behind-the-scenes walking tour of The Apollo on H Street followed by a panel discussion and networking at the Apollo Conservatory. Now known for its nightlife, restaurants, independent retailers and high-end residences, the dynamic H Street corridor has experienced a resurgence. From transformative developments to rehabilitated historic icons and the revival of the streetcar – this community has seen a striking transformation.
- Built on the site of the legendary Apollo Theatre, the 431-unit luxury Apollo residences seamlessly integrates past and present. With more than 90,000 SF of ground-floor retail, the award-winning development quickly became the heart of the H Street transformation and is home to its own streetcar stop.
- Offering an array of modern amenities and rooftop spaces, Avec, which spans an entire city block, will provide the neighborhood with an additional 419 units, 45,000 SF of retail, and underground parking for 435 vehicles.
- After more than 50 years, the streetcar has made a triumphant return. Running every 10-15 minutes, the now-modernized mode of public transportation has connected commuters to the bustling H Street corridor with plenty of stops for easy boarding and accessibility.
