Over 200 people attended ULI Washington’s town hall discussion this week on pop-up uses, how to implement them from the landlord’s and operator’s perspective, and how to get involved in this fast-growing segment of the retail sector. Hosted at No Kings Collective, a temporary activation of MRP’s Bryant Street development, the event featured retail brokers, landlords, artists and pop-up event operators who discussed their experience in the pop-up space and the value it can create in surrounding mixed-use communities.
Speakers included: Ian Callendar, Owner of @SuiteNation & @SandlotSouthwest; Brandon Hill, Co-Founder, @NoKingsDC; Robin Mosle, Founding Partner, @Of_Place and Stacey Price, Founder, @ShopMadeinDC; Jennifer Price, @KLNBLLC Principal; and Joshua Silver, Lead Planner for Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, @op_InDC.
Event pop-up operators who participated included: @UpTopAcres, showcasing their commitment from farm to table as a fixture of DC city life; The Cheshire DC, who highlighted the importance of space for DC’s creators, artists, and creative businesses; @FemmeFataleDC, who drives the concept between having space for exploration, experimentation and execution of creative projects and energizing the community;? @RightProperBeer who discussed brewing beer and creating culture and memories; and ?@CureateCO, a company that connects small and large businesses and empowers the entrepreneurial platform.
