On January, 14, over 25 ULI members came together at DC Central Kitchen to prepare meals to be distributed to homeless shelters around the District. The event, organized by the Young Leaders Group’s Community Service Committee, saw volunteers do food prep for DC Central Kitchen’s meals for the following day. DCCK serves as the food production hub for dozens of shelters and non-profits and produces over 5,000 meals daily. Volunteers worked in tandem with both professional kitchen staff, and clients receiving culinary job training, another service provided by DC Central Kitchen. Volunteers were able to sharpen their knives and make connections to others in the industry. The Community Service Committee organizes events throughout the year, so be sure to keep an eye out for the next one!
