2018 Mentorship Program Kick-off Event Recap
Young Leader Group’s Mentorship Program held their annual kick-off event
October 3, 2018
ULI kicked off fall in style this past weekend, teaming up with 11th Street Bridge Park Plots to rejuvenate a garden in Wayne Place. Wayne Place, a transitional housing complex for foster youth in Southeast, incorporates gardening into their community, which helps eliminate food insecurity for the foster system graduates. Dawning shiny new ULI vests and spurred on by some bumping beats, the volunteers prepared the existing garden plots for the fall planting season. This included clearing the existing overgrown vegetation, dodging massive spiders, aerating the soil, and then installing fabric to stabilize the plots. When the project was complete, the Wayne Place residents were left with a garden full of boxes ready to be planted. It was an another awesome event with 11th Street Bridge and an exciting kickoff to the ULI service event calendar!
