The YLG Community Service Committee for ULI Washington began the year with a volunteer clean up at Kenilworth Park for the National Day of Service!
ULI volunteers began their Saturday learning about the history of the Anacostia River watershed and how the Anacostia Riverkeeper strives to improve the waterways and the community as a whole. Volunteers were given a brief introduction to what kinds of litter and pollution is found at the park and best practices in collecting, separating, and distributing waste before venturing off to clean up all morning. ULI would like to thank all of the volunteers who participated.
The Anacostia Riverkeeper is a non-profit organization working to protect and restore the Anacostia River while creating opportunities for the community to connect and improve. The organization strives to bring communities together across the watershed and works with public and private partners to improve environmental policy. With the help of ULI, the community is one step closer to a clean, swimmable, and fishable river!
