Graduate students from the Steers Center for Global Real Estate within Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business piloted a two-day UrbanPlan workshop last week as part of the Career Week programming hosted by the Georgetown Real Estate Society (GRES).
GRES is a student-led professional club dedicated to promoting real estate within Georgetown University. The club connects students interested in real estate, promotes networking with alumni and top real estate firms, and educates students on careers and the industry.
The workshop provided some welcome, hand-on experience for students frustrated by the limitations of COVID 19. The students developed a 3-dimensional model of their proposals, created a pro forma projecting the financial impact of their plans, received guidance from local real estate experts and presented their proposals to a mock city council. In the words of one participant, “[S]o wonderful and such a special surprise to see how UrbanPlan was able to use the unfavorable environment and spin it into such a value-add activity.”
Thanks as always to the ULI volunteers who made the workshop possible: Pradipta Banerjee, Susan Bell, David Brodersen, Meredith Byer, Brad Cambridge, John Coe, Caroline Herre, Alex Johns, Rob Klein, Elaine Magil, Kay Pierson, Stephen Samuels, Ryan Stewart, Colin Thomas.
