ULI Washington regularly features member leaders’ thoughts and insights as we adjust personally and professionally to a “new normal.” Today we feature our colleague Rebecca Hertz, Manager, who after nearly seven years at ULI Washington is moving on to a new opportunity, to share her thoughts and reflections on her time at ULI.
“ It is bittersweet to announce that I am leaving ULI Washington today for a new role as the Events and Programs Manager at Leadership Greater Washington. I am excited to continue my work to advance the Greater Washington DC region, but I will miss so many things at ULI.
This presents me with a unique opportunity to reflect back on the past six and half years I have worked for ULI Washington and wow, what an experience! I started out as an Associate in 2014, diving right into the depth of ULI by arriving on my first day at the Fall Meeting in New York. It was an amazing experience to learn about ULI from the national level. My first local event for ULI Washington was a Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) event at Union Market, pretty fitting for the rest of my career at ULI Washington. I have had the great opportunity to lead and watch the WLI program grow from its infancy to becoming one of our most impactful programs today. I couldn’t be prouder of the WLI ladies and what they have accomplished to lift women up as leaders in the commercial real estate and land use industry.
And I would be remiss not to talk about the Regional Land Use Leadership Institute program, which has been mutually beneficial for our members and my career growth. I have also had the chance to watch this program grow and adapt to the changes the land use industry and region have faced over the years. The program has even allowed me to grow my own professional experience and is now leading me to my new role.
I will surely miss the members of ULI Washington and the opportunity to learn about new real estate projects and best practices in housing development and sustainability. My curiosity of local real estate and land use planning will continue even after I leave ULI. I look forward to continuing my work to make a better, more sustainable, and equitable DC.”
