October 30, 2018
The Young Leaders’ Community Service Service Committee hit a home run on Saturday, October 20th volunteering with the Miracle League of Alexandria. Roughly 20 volunteers from a wide array of ULI’s membership helped developmentally disabled participates play an exciting baseball game. Volunteers were used in the field, on the base paths, as cheerleaders, and to MC the festive event. In addition to the action on the field, volunteers and participants provided entertainment by dancing between innings – a Miracle League tradition. After the game, participants and volunteers enjoyed a cookout at the field provided by another service organization. The Miracle League provides a field for those with disabilities that is completely compatible with wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices. The Community Service Committee volunteers with the Miracle League annually, and both sides continue to enjoy the event.
