2019 Trends Conference Award Winners

Now entering its fifth year, the Trends Conference Awards Program highlights innovative and outstanding development in the Metropolitan Washington Region. There are six distinctive award categories (and one special category) that recognize innovative projects, policies, and initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of vibrant neighborhoods, exemplify creative problem solving, and celebrate visionary thinking.

ULI Washington announced the winners of the 2019 Real Estate Trends Conference Awards Program, a conference component that highlights innovative development underway in the Metropolitan Washington Region.

The six distinctive award categories recognize innovative projects, policies, and initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of vibrant neighborhoods, exemplify creative problem solving, and celebrate visionary thinking. The winners of each category are as follows:

Excellence in Mixed-Use Development

  • The Apollo – Washington, D.C

Excellence in Office Development

  • Midtown Center – Washington, D.C.

Excellence in Adaptive Reuse

  • Ampeer Dupont – Washington, D.C.

Excellence in Institutional Development and Impact

  • The Commons at Stanton – Washington, D.C.

Excellence in Housing

  • The Railroad Cottages – Falls Church, VA

Excellence in Affordable Housing

  • Columbia Hills Apartments – Arlington, VA

An additional special presentation, the 2019 Juror’s Innovation and Experience Award, was also presented to The Channel at District Wharf. The award recognizes the project team’s dedication to creative placemaking – employing art and culture, in tandem with great design – to deliver a refreshing, affordable, creative new face to a project in the greater Washington area.

The Real Estate Trends Conference, ULI Washington’s signature event, features local and national speakers and provides a crash course on where the real estate industry is now and where it is headed. The theme for the 2019 conference was “Urban Innovation: Expanding Possibilities.”
