    Join Us for a remarkable Case Study Event! We invite you to be a part of something extraordinary as we delve into the success story of Reston Station, one of the largest mixed-use, transit-oriented developments in the Mid-Atlantic region. This event will include a tour of Reston Station.
    Reston Station is among the largest mixed-use, transit-oriented developments in the mid-Atlantic region. Covering 80 acres, spanning the Dulles Toll Road, and surrounding the Wiehle-Reston East Station on Metro's Silver Line, Reston Station is home to multiple Trophy-Class and Class-A office buildings that serve as national or regional headquarters for Google, ICF International , Spotify, Qualtrics International, TransUnion , Rolls-Royce of America, and numerous other federal contractors. More than 2,000 residents already call Reston Station home, while approximately 3,000 additional residences are planned with 420 currently under construction. Two hotels will provide multiple options for visitors, including Virginia’s first JW Marriott Hotel and Condominium Residential tower that is scheduled to open in 2025. Anchoring the destination retail and entertainment spaces currently under construction are a state-of-the-art 55,000 square foot flagship VIDA Fitness and Spa facility, golf themed entertainment and dining venue Puttshack, and Ebbitt House, the first ever expansion of the iconic Old Ebbitt Grill brand. These new retail offerings will join Founding Farmers, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, Starbucks, and numerous other dining and convenience retail venues already at Reston Station.

    Christopher Clemente

    CEO, Comstock Companies

    Chris Clemente founded the Comstock organization in 1985 and has guided its growth and diversification since its inception. Mr. Clemente managed the growth of Comstock as a private enterprise until the 2004 initial public offering of Comstock Homebuilding Companies, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHCI), now known as Comstock Holding Companies®, Inc. (“Comstock” or “Company”). Since the IPO, Mr. Clemente has served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Comstock and is the largest individual stockholder of the Company. Mr. Clemente chairs Comstock’s Executive Committee, which charts strategic direction, evaluates acquisition opportunities, and oversees strategic partnerships, including multiple public-private partnerships. Mr. Clemente is also Managing Member of Comstock Partners, LC (“Partners”), a family-owned, private company founded by Mr. Clemente in 1999 to focus on commercial real estate development and investment. Key assets included in the portfolio of managed assets, include; Reston Station, a 4.5 million square foot transit-oriented and mixed-use development covering nearly 40 acres surrounding the terminus station of Phase I of the Silver Line in Reston, Virginia, and Loudoun Station, a 2+ million square foot transit-oriented and mixed-use development located adjacent to the terminus station of Phase II of the Silver Line in Ashburn, Virginia. Mr. Clemente attended the University of Wisconsin and George Mason University where he studied Business and Psychology. Mr. Clemente and his wife, Tracy Schar, have been long-time supporters of numerous charitable organizations in the Washington, DC region that support international adoptions, foster care programs, and that provide educational, housing and other assistance to families and children in-need.

    Stephanie Pankiewicz

    Partner, LandDesign

    HERE’S WHAT MATTERS TO STEPHANIE Critical thinking. Style. Dark chocolate. My mini Aussie. Hydrangeas. Stephanie joined LandDesign in 2006 as Director of Planning, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture in the Asheville, NC office, and is currently a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office. As a professional landscape architect and dedicated community advocate for greenways, complete streets and green infrastructure, Stephanie is focused in integrating economically viable and environmentally sustainable community and site design through all of the projects on which she participates. She believes strongly that social well being is created by implementing proper planning, design and construction into our built environment at all scales, whether that is integrating local greenways and trail linkages into a high density urban area or designing a an active public realm streetscape near a major metro station. Her current work includes several large scale mixed use urban design / landscape architecture projects in the Tysons and DC metro area. Stephanie has also lead many public planning projects with a community participation process. This includes an extensive community involvement process for City of Asheville’s signature River Arts District multi-modal transportation project which consists of complex NEPA, state, and federal agency submittal and review requirements balanced with other design factors such as public arts, local character, economic development, environmental sustainability, recreational opportunities, and resource preservation. A key design project in Stephanie’s portfolio is Camp Lake James, a private recreation center completed for Crescent Resources in NC. This project has received several awards for its sustainable landscape, irrigation and hardscape design that evokes the rich historical character of a rural mountain retreat with distinctive details hand crafted by local artisans and creative contractors and water conservation methods.

    Jim Davis

    Rachel Flynn

    Fairfax County

    Rachel Flynn is the Deputy County Executive of Fairfax County – overseeing seven departments: Planning, Building, Transportation, Economic Initiatives, Public Works, Code Compliance, and Environment & Energy. She joined Fairfax in 2019. Prior to moving to Fairfax, Rachel worked for Google as Director of Planning and for Lennar/FivePoint Communities as Vice President in Northern California. Previously, Rachel directed planning and development efforts for the cities of Oakland, CA, Abu Dhabi, UAE, Richmond, VA, and Lynchburg, VA. She practiced architecture for over twelve years with Cannon Design in New York, Boston, Toronto, and Washington, D.C. She has been honored with numerous awards from civic and professional organizations for successful master plans, downtown revitalization, historic preservation, environmental initiatives, and innovative technology programs. Rachel holds degrees from Harvard University and Catholic University.

    Chris Lessard is the founding Principal of Lessard Design and is a registered architect in 18 states. He is recognized nationally and internationally as a design innovator, which can be partly attributed to his uncanny ability to recognize and understand market trends. Chris Lessard’s continuing success is evidenced by the more than 450 national and local awards he and his firm have received, including honors from the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Congress of New Urbanism (CNU), and the Best in American Living. Chris Lessard and his works have been prominently featured in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and several leading industry publications for his insight into real estate market trends. As a featured speaker, his expertise is sought for at national conventions, seminars and trade shows including ULI, the American Institute of Architects, International Builders and Multi-Family Housing. He actively participates in the Urban Land Institute and National Association of Home Builders, Northern Virginia Builders Industry Association and numerous land development and code committees. As one of America’s top architects, Chris Lessard is a national leader in the planning and design of successful mixed-use and residential communities. Lessard has designed master plans for the multi-phase communities — including town centers comprised of retail, office, hotel, and public amenities — as well as the architectural design for individual mixed-use, residential, and retail buildings. His recently completed work includes two projects for Donald Trump: Trump Plaza – an iconic mixed-use tower in New Rochelle, NY — that city’s tallest building; and the Trump Parc residential tower – the tallest building in Stamford, CT and the second tallest residential building in the state of Connecticut. In response to a growing international demand for the firm’s award-winning architectural and planning services, Mr. Lessard has expanded the firm’s practice overseas to Central Asia and the Middle East. The firm has an office strategically located in Ahmedabad, India, and has recently been awarded projects in Nanjing, China and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
