2020 Trends Awards Application is Now Open!

2020 Trends Awards applications due February 19th!

A guiding principle of the Urban Land Institute is that the achievement of excellence in land use practice should be recognized and rewarded.  The Trends Awards, now in the sixth year, will augment the annual ULI Washington Real Estate Trends conference by highlighting innovative development in the Metropolitan Washington region. The Awards recognize innovative projects, policies, and initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of vibrant neighborhoods, exemplify creative problem solving, and celebrate visionary thinking. The winners will be announced at the Trends Conference on April 30, 2020. Finalists for each category will be announced in advance.

AWARD CATEGORIES

  • Excellence in Housing Development
  • Excellence in Affordable Housing
  • Excellence in Office Development
  • Excellence in Mixed Use Development
  • Excellence in Institutional Development
  • Excellence in Sustainability

AWARD CRITERIA

  • The nomination process is open to all – not just to ULI members
  • The project must be in stable operation, financially viable, and worthy of emulation
  • The project must embody excellence in as many of the following categories as possible:
– Innovation
– Development Approach
– Land Use Economics
– Project Finance		 – Access and Mobility
– Sustainability
– Community and Culture
– Design Excellence
  • Projects must be located within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region (see application for details).
  • All projects nominated must have been completed in calendar years 2017, 2018 or 2019.

Submission Deadline: Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 5 PM.  We encourage you to upload your submission(s) early. Applications that arrive after the submission deadline not be considered and applicants will be invited to re-apply next year.

How to Apply

  1. Type washington.uli.org/trendsawards2020 into your browser.
  2. You can save the application at any time and return later to complete it. ULI recommends you save the application often to avoid loss of data.
  3. Once you have started an application, you can find your submission number at: My Applications > In progress. In the # column, your submission number takes the format 2020-###.
  4. After you select completing the questions, you will be able to select Add to Cart to complete payment.
  5. You will not be able to Add to Cart if you have not answered a required question. The form will take you back to the section(s) you need to complete.
  6. If you submit in error, please contact [email protected]; ULI may be able to reopen your submission.
  7. ULI will review all submissions and give you at least one opportunity (within a limited timeframe) to address any incomplete sections. The jury will not evaluate incomplete submissions.
  8. ULI will not process refunds except in cases of duplicate payment; please be sure you wish to submit before you complete payment.
