What is the Pathways to Inclusion initiative?
The Urban Land Institute (ULI) is a nonprofit education and research institute supported by its members. Its mission is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide. Established in 1936, ULI has more than 40,000 members worldwide representing all aspects of land use and development disciplines.
ULI Washington’s Pathways to Inclusion initiative is designed to broaden ULI membership and expand the professional networks of minority real estate and land use professionals in Washington, DC. We believe that by diversifying our membership we can better fulfill our organization’s mission to create and sustain thriving communities.
The Pathways to Inclusion initiative provides up to 25 people of color with scholarships for one year of ULI membership and access to programs designed to serve, support and engage its participants throughout the year. In addition to ULI Washington’s existing programs and benefits, this year’s Pathways cohort will participate in quarterly cohort meetings, networking events, UrbanPlan training, and either YLG Mentorship or NEXT.
Who is eligible to participate?
The Pathways to Inclusion initiative is designed to increase the participation of groups who are underrepresented in the land use and real estate fields, defined as being African American/African descent, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American, Middle Eastern, and Asian descent. Pathways applicants must live in the Washington metropolitan area and have at least 5 years of professional experience.
